Shopping for costume jewellery online: where to start
Start with the outfit you want to complete and the detail you would like to highlight. Browse the jewellery collection by type, then compare dimensions, length and fastenings. A photograph shows the design; measurements help you picture how it will sit on you.
Necklaces and earrings
When choosing a necklace, consider where it will fall in relation to your neckline. Shorter styles draw attention to the neck, while longer necklaces move the focal point down the outfit. If you layer chains, leave a noticeable difference in length so the pendants do not overlap.
With earrings for women, think about movement and size as well as shape. Hoops, small studs and drop earrings create different effects. Check the fastening and consider your hairstyle, collar and how long you plan to wear them. A statement pair can be enough decoration around the face.
Bracelets and rings
For women’s bracelets, compare your wrist measurement with the stated length or diameter. Chains and bangles need different checks: a closed bangle must also pass over your hand. When choosing rings, use a comfortable ring worn on the same finger as a reference and check the size of your chosen design. Do not assume it is adjustable.
Fashion jewellery for everyday wear and special occasions
Choose jewellery that suits your wardrobe and feels comfortable in your routine. Picture a bracelet beside your shirt cuff or a necklace under a jacket. For a special occasion, let one piece lead the look and keep the others more understated.
A simple shape works well with embroidery or a busy print. A plain dress gives you more room for bold proportions, sparkling details or contrasting colours. Gold tones can echo a buckle; silver tones can connect with other metal details. You can also mix finishes by repeating a shape or colour.
When comparing pearl details, coloured stones or geometric designs, look at their scale against your clothing. Modern, handmade or vintage-inspired styling describes an aesthetic; materials and craftsmanship need separate consideration. There is no required number of bracelets or fixed jewellery rule for a particular age. Leave enough room for comfortable movement and choose pieces you enjoy wearing.
Strabello Bijoux: 316L stainless steel and 18K gold plating
When assessing costume jewellery, distinguish the base metal, surface coating and decorative details. Costume jewellery includes fashion accessories made with non-precious base metals, including steel. A gold-plated surface does not make a piece solid gold.
Base metal and finish
The Strabello Bijoux line uses 316L stainless steel and three-layer 18K gold plating. Sparkling details include cubic zirconia crystals. Steel forms the base, while gold coats the surface: 18K describes the gold used in the plating, rather than the whole piece.
Labels such as premium or luxury costume jewellery do not specify a composition on their own. Compare the finish, the way decorative elements are fitted and the fastenings. Design and craftsmanship contribute to a piece’s value as an accessory; its gold colour alone does not establish its material value.
How the PVD coating works
Strabello Bijoux uses PVD, Physical Vapor Deposition, with IP, or ion plating, under vacuum. The process includes preparing and cleaning the base, applying an intermediate titanium layer and adding the gold finish. Here, titanium refers to part of the surface treatment, rather than a solid titanium base.
The stated gold coating thickness is between 0.03 and 0.05 micrometres. This is a thin coating that should be protected from impact and friction. The process and thickness explain how the piece is made, but cannot predict its lifespan without considering wear and care.
Affordable costume jewellery: what to compare before buying
Set a budget and compare pieces with similar characteristics. A design that works with several outfits may be more useful than one chosen only for a discount. Consider the total order cost alongside materials, dimensions and workmanship.
When choosing an online jewellery shop, check:
- Seller and description: who is selling, which brand or line you are choosing and the stated materials.
- Size and variation: actual dimensions, fastening and selected finish.
- Order terms: total cost, delivery to your destination, payment options and applicable returns.
- Support and warranty: how to ask questions and which conditions apply to your purchase.
The Strabello Bijoux line comes with a 180-day commercial warranty. Ask for details of its coverage and how to obtain assistance before ordering. A warranty period is not an expiry date for the jewellery or a promise of durability under every condition.
If you are looking for branded costume jewellery, start with the line name and its specifications. Buying from an Italian shop does not automatically mean a piece was made in Italy: origin and manufacturing details need to be stated explicitly.
How to clean and store costume jewellery
For everyday care, use a soft, dry cloth and store pieces separately to prevent chains and surfaces from rubbing together. Avoid impacts, abrasives and direct contact with perfume or detergents. Put jewellery on after applying cosmetics and perfume to reduce residue.
If a piece looks dark or dull, check its material-specific care instructions before treating it. Surface residue and worn plating are different problems. Do not apply baking soda, acids or metal polish indiscriminately: a method suitable for one material can damage a coating. Aluminium, pearl details and other inserts may need different care.
Resistance to tarnishing depends on the base, finish, conditions of use and maintenance. Even a resistant coating can wear at points of repeated friction. Careful handling helps preserve its appearance.

Questions about Strabello Bijoux jewellery
Can I wear Strabello Bijoux in water?
The line is designed for everyday use and is water-resistant. This does not make the coating immune to wear or chemicals. Follow the care instructions for your piece and dry it gently after contact with water. For swimming or showering, also consider salt, chlorine, detergents and any decorative inserts.
Does a nickel-free plating process mean the jewellery is hypoallergenic?
The Strabello Bijoux plating process described as SAFE uses an intermediate titanium layer without using nickel at that stage. This does not establish that every component is nickel-free: 316L stainless steel can contain nickel. It is therefore not a guarantee of suitability for everyone. If you have specific requirements, ask about the composition before choosing.
What does a bracelet gift mean, and how do I choose one?
A bracelet can mark a relationship or a shared occasion, but its meaning depends on the giver and recipient. Start with the person’s preferences: finish, size and type of fastening. Check the fit and add a personal message to explain why you chose it.
